How do you get your child used to the dummy
To get your child used to the dummy, start by offering them the weaning dummy at times when they are seeking reassurance and comfort, such as before bedtime.
Make sure that their experience with the dummy is positive and reassuring, as this will make it easier to wean your child off the dummy at a later stage.
With a little patience, your child will be able to get used to their dummy while paving the way for successful weaning.
How to encourage your child’s use of the dummy
To get your child used to the dummy, it's important to introduce the weaning dummy gently and gradually.
Start by introducing the dummy at times when they are seeking comfort and reassurance, which can make it easier to wean your child off the dummy later on.
Make sure you also create a soothing environment so that your child associates the dummy with moments of calm and security.
Can Clipp® be cleaned with alcohol or disinfectants?
We do not recommend the use of disinfectants.
If you want to use disinfectant, take the greatest possible care and do not exceed the maximum exposure to the disinfectant recommended by the disinfectant manufacturer, as this could damage the weaning dummy.
The dummy is damaged. What should I do?
If the sucking teat is damaged, you should replace the dummy with a new one at the same stage of weaning.
Clipp is designed and certified to withstand "normal" sucking use (excluding "chewing").
It may be that growth, and potentially the stress of stopping, leads to the dummy being used as a "teething ring" and not just to satisfy your child’s need to suck.
Is there a risk that my child will replace their dummy addiction with another?
This is particularly the case if weaning is too rapid or too early: it must be adapted to the child.
Is there a risk of my child swallowing the dummy and choking?
Clipp® is a normal-sized dummy: it can't be swallowed, any more than any other dummy!
The weaning shield must be clipped in place by an adult. Once added, they cannot be removed by the child and are therefore risk-free.
How should the Clipp® dummy be cared for?
Wash the 6 elements in hot water before use, and then regularly throughout the weaning process.
Don't hesitate to order the small brush on sale in the store, it's perfect for cleaning the small dummy parts.
Can Clipp® dummies be used at night?
The Clipp® device is first and foremost a dummy: let the child use it, but the countdown to complete weaning has begun.
However, for Clipp®, as for all dummies, we recommend that you try to limit use to specific times, such as bedtime, naps or times when the child is very upset, for example.
The dummy should not be used systematically, and complete weaning depends on this.
For night-time use, consider ordering the "glow-in-the-dark" or "coloured" models to help your child find their dummy in bed.
Does the Clipp® dummy deform teeth?
The Clipp® dummy is primarily designed to stop bad habits and will only be worn for a few weeks. Poor dental positioning is often the result of bad habits.
These include thumb-sucking, dummy use or any other device that causes incorrect tongue position, mouth breathing and maintenance of infant (or primary) swallowing.
Weaning your child correctly will enable them to adopt the right habits, before the age of 3 and in the majority of cases, teeth will naturally realign within a few weeks. If in doubt, do not hesitate to consult a specialist.
Can Clipp® be used to stop thumb sucking?
Clipp® is particularly well suited to dummy weaning. To wean your child off thumb-sucking, we recommend discussing the subject with the child, finding substitutes such as activities that require both hands, and possibly adding a bitter nail varnish and/or putting a plaster on the thumb at bedtime.
What should I do if the shield no longer fits properly on the dummy?
If a shield does not fit properly, it is either:
- badly positioned, so you must insert and clip it correctly (see instructions);
- damaged, dispose of the dummy if the shield or at least one of the clips is broken.
Will my child accept the Clipp® weaning dummy?
The advantage of Clipp® is that it is a dummy that is exactly the same as the others at the start of weaning. This makes the transition easier, and there is a very good chance that the child will accept... a transition that is simpler than a sudden stop. How long does weaning take with Clipp®?
We recommend complete weaning within 30 days (or 60 days if your child’s need to suck is very strong), but you know your child better than anyone and you can extend this time if you feel you need to slow down the weaning process.
However long it takes, each stage is irreversible and you are inevitably heading towards your child completely stopping dummy use. So take your time, and your child's time in particular.

Can the dummy be washed in the dishwasher?
Do not wash the Clipp® dummy in the dishwasher or disinfect it in a pressure cooker. There is a risk of material damage from detergents or irregular heating.
Can the dummy be boiled?
The dummy is designed to withstand boiling water, but to avoid any risk of damage, we recommend simply washing it in hot water.
Is it absolutely necessary to follow the weaning schedule suggested in the instructions for use?
It's important to adapt to the child, but without losing sight of the objective. The schedule is flexible depending on the child and the level of dependency.
Clipp has weaned some children in less than a week, others in 60 days. The time taken varies greatly depending on the child's willingness to stop. It’s really important to listen to the child, as they will guide the weaning schedule.

Should I buy several kits to wean my child off the dummy?
A single kit is enough. If the child had several dummies before, having just one Clipp® dummy is already a step towards weaning.
They will use it a little less, because only one is available. Ideally, the dummy should be left in the child’s bedroom during the day.
If possible, its use should be limited to naps, nights and times when the child is very upset. In any case, the child will use it less and less as the shields are gradually added.
Can the child unclip or remove the shields from the dummy?
A child cannot remove a correctly clipped shield, they are attached very firmly to the previous one by safety hooks - read the instructions carefully before use.
Is it possible to extend a weaning stage?
Yes, it's important to listen to your child and if you think it would help them to slow down, then slow down! It's important to listen to what they say, because they guide the schedule.

At what point should weaning off the dummy stop?
Weaning means breaking the child’s habit. It happens of its own accord because the dummy will become increasingly complicated to use.
The child gradually reduces its use until they are completely weaned.

Should we discuss the introduction of the weaning dummy with the child beforehand?
It’s important to talk about it because discussion will make weaning easier. It's even better if the child is involved!
You can explain it to them and they can even more or less choose the date of the next stage (if it’s reasonable, of course)!
It will be much easier for the child to choose to add a shield than to decide to abandon their dummy all of a sudden.

What guarantees do I have that weaning will work?
Clipp® is a dummy like all the others at the first stage, which maximises the chance of the transition being accepted by the child, unlike other systems on the market.
Subsequently, the stages are added by an adult who mechanically shortens the sucking teat at each stage, so the child cannot object. Each stage is carried out gently and at the child's pace, but there is no going back.
We strongly recommend getting children involved by letting them choose (more or less) the date on which each new shield is added. This way, they become involved in weaning themselves and the results are much better (you can download the free online fun calendar and the reward certificate)

Can a dummy clip be used with Clipp®?
You can use a dummy clip, but be careful: For your child's safety, use a dummy clip that complies with current regulations (Clipp® dummy clip available in the online store) 22 cm maximum and never extend the dummy clip.
How should the Clipp® dummy be used?
At the start of weaning, the Clipp® dummy is a dummy like any other. You therefore need to remove any other dummies your child may have and replace them with Clipp® weaning dummies.
Following the instructions, simply add the weaning shields gradually over 30 to 60 days. - Read the instructions carefully before use. Discover our blog articles and video testimonials from our users
